What stays on your device

Every measurement Shadecard makes — the captured frames, the CIELAB values, the matched shade and the recipe — is computed on your phone and stored in the app's own private storage. Your saved measurements and custom shades live in a file only this app can read. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

The camera

The app needs camera access to measure fabric. Frames are analysed in memory and are not written to your photo gallery, and the app does not read photos you already have.

What leaves your device, and only when you ask

• AI analysis. If you tap “Get AI analysis” on a result, the app sends that measurement's colour values and a small cropped image of the fabric to our server, which forwards it to the configured AI provider (such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) for a second opinion. AI analysis is part of the paid scan packs, so the request is linked to your account. The image and the result are kept in our request log so the accuracy of the system can be reviewed. If you never tap it, no image ever leaves the phone.
• Account. Creating an account stores your email address, an optional display name, and a hashed password. Passwords are never stored in readable form.
• Scan packs (purchases). Paid scan packs are bought through Google Play, which handles the payment — we never see your card or payment details. Our server records which pack your account bought (the product, Google Play's order ID and purchase token) and your remaining scan balance, and checks each purchase token with Google Play so credits can't be faked and follow your account to a new device. If Google Play refunds, charges back or revokes a purchase, the scans that pack added are removed from your balance (scans already used aren't affected). Your 3 free scans are counted on your phone only.
• Cloud backup. If you back up your recipe book, the app uploads that document — your saved measurements, custom shades and lab-dip log — to your account so you can restore it on another device. It is not shared with other users.
• Instrument readings. If you submit an instrument reading for a shade, we store the L*a*b* values, the instrument and light you used and any note, linked to your account for review. If approved, only the colour values are added to that shade in the public library — never your name or email.
• Shade library. The app fetches the public shade library from our server at launch. That request carries no personal information.

What we never collect

No location, no contacts, no device identifiers for advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The app does not show ads.

Children

Shadecard is a tool for textile work and is not directed at children under 13.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling removes everything held on the device. Deleting your cloud account is automatic — no need to contact anyone:

• In the app: Account → Delete account.
• On the web: at https://sc.abdohoo.app/delete-account, sign in with your email and password.
• Forgot your password? On the same page, enter your email address and we'll send a one-time deletion link (valid 60 minutes); open it and confirm.

Each way erases the account, its backup, its sign-in tokens, its purchase records and any unused scan credits, your submitted readings and any capture images logged from it immediately, and we email you a confirmation. Only if you've lost access to your email address too, write to the address below and we'll help. Google Play keeps its own record of your payments under its own policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be announced in the app.
